This guide will show you step by step how to connect your Skylux device for a seamless smart home experience. Let Skylux and Matter make your home smarter!

Necessary elements

01. A Skylux product compatible with Matter

Have you purchased a Skylux product that is compatible with Matter (for example an openable iWindow2 flat roof window)? Then you've come to the right page! Matter ensures a simple and reliable connection between smart devices of all brands. This allows them to work together seamlessly within one network.

02. A Thread border router

A 'Thread border router', such as the Google Nest Hub or Apple HomePod mini, enables connection between your Skylux product and your Wi-Fi or Ethernet network. This allows you to control your device via your smartphone or tablet.

You may already have a border router or Matter-compatible devices in your home that can act as a border router. This can save you time and money. Take a look at the following devices you may already own.

Please note that the Amazon Echo (4th gen) is not currently compatible with Skylux products.

So before you purchase a new border router, take a look around your home. You may already have everything you need to control your Skylux device and enjoy a smart home experience!

03. A smartphone or tablet (Android or iOS)

Instructions: step by step

Step 1:
Step 1:

Choose an app to control your smart devices

The first thing you need to do is decide which app you want to use to control your smart devices. This app depends on the devices you already have at home and the features you want to use.

For example:

  • If you already have a Google Nest Hub at home, you can opt for the Google Home app on your Android smartphone or tablet.
  • If you have an Apple HomePod, then the Apple HomeKit app is the best choice for your iOS smartphone or tablet.

The most important thing is to choose an app that works well with the devices you already have at home.

Step 2:
Step 2:

Download the right app

Now that you have chosen the app with which you want to control your smart devices, the next step is to install this app on your smartphone or tablet.

For example:

  • If you have opted for Google Home, go to the Google Play Store (for Android) or the App Store (for iOS), search for “Google Home,” and click “Install.”.
  • If your choice was Apple HomeKit, then the app must already be installed on your iOS device. If not, you can find and install it through the App Store.

Step 3:
Step 3:

Add your border router

If you have a smart device like Google Nest Hub or Apple HomePod at home, these will also act as your 'border router'. They connect your Skylux device to your Wi-Fi or Ethernet network, allowing you to control it via an app on your smartphone or tablet.

If you already use a border router in your home, you can skip this step.

Pairing with your App:

  1. Open the app you chose on your smartphone or tablet.
  2. Look for the 'add device' or 'set up new device' option, usually found in the main menu or settings.
  3. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to pair your border router (your smart device). This may include scanning a QR code or entering a unique code.

By following these steps you will connect your border router to your app and easily control your Skylux device.

Go exploring in your own home!

You may already have a border router or Matter-compatible devices in your home that can act as a border router.

Now it's time to prepare your Skylux product to connect to the app on your smartphone or tablet. This is called 'connection mode' and can be done in two ways:

Step 4:
Step 4 > Option 1: with the remote control

Activate connection mode with the remote control

  1. Find and hold the button with the gear (⚙️) symbol on your Skylux remote control.
  2. Press and hold until you hear two (🎵 🎵) and then three beeps (🎵 🎵 🎵 ) or the green LED on the keypad on your device flashes three times, then release the button.
  3. You will see the blue LED on the keypad start flashing, which means it is in connection mode.

Step 4 > Option 2: with the keypad

Activate connection mode with the keypad on your Skylux product

  1. Press and hold the button marked with a 'P' on the keypad.
  2. Press and hold until you hear two (🎵 🎵) and then three beeps (🎵 🎵 🎵 ) or the green LED on the keypad flashes three times, then release the button.
  3. You will see the blue LED on the keypad start flashing, which means it is in connection mode.

After activating connection mode, you have 10 minutes to add the Skylux product to your chosen app (step 5). If you do not do this within this time, connection mode will be deactivated. The blue LED on the keypad will then no longer be visible. Don't worry if time passes before you finish, you can re-enter connection mode. The most important thing is to do this within 10 minutes so that you can fully use your device

Step 5:
Step 5: Scanning the Matter QR code

Add your Skylux product to your app

  • Now you need to add your Skylux product to the app you have installed.

  • Below you can find the steps for your chosen app (Google Home, Apple Homekit).

  • The Matter QR code that you will need to scan can be found on the installation manual or the back of the remote control.

Please note: If you follow the instructions for sharing your device across multiple apps, you will need to scan/copy the QR code/number code you generated in your app into your new app.
