Automatic comfort, without a single cable
More shade, more ventilation and greater ease of use, all fully powered by solar energy. The solar system combines a powerful solar panel with an integrated battery, so your window and screen keep operating autonomously. A smart solution for renovation and new build.

The principle
From sunlight to fresh air. Entirely automatic.
A compact solar panel on the outside charges a hidden battery. That battery opens your window, extends your screen and keeps everything running for months without a single metre of cabling.

Easy installation
No cables. No demolition.
Because everything runs on solar energy, there is no need to look for a power outlet. No chases in the ceiling, no cable trunking, no interrupted finish. The solar panel is installed from the outside without dismantling the window.
- No power supply needed - ideal for renovation and new build.
- Compact and pre-assembled - ready to install from our own stock.
- Can be installed afterwards - the solar screen fits in an existing Skylux curb.
Reliable, every season
Made for the Belgian climate.
Even when the sun stays out of sight for a while.
The panel's high output makes the system remarkably tolerant. It keeps working, even in the short winter months. And if a continuous grey spell does last longer, an internal back-up is ready.
- Continues to work for up to ± 4 weeks without direct sunlight.
- Battery status always visible via app or LED indication.
- Charging is always possible from the inside via USB-C.

Frequently asked questions about solar
How does a solar-powered flat roof window work?
A compact solar panel on the outside of the flat roof window charges a built-in battery. That battery powers the spindle motor that opens your window and the screen that extends. Everything works wirelessly, without connection to the mains. You control the whole system with the remote control or via your smartphone.
Do I need power or cables for a solar flat roof window?
No. The Solar version runs entirely on solar energy and does not need a power supply. No cutting or demolition work, no cable trunking and no socket are required. That makes the system ideal for both new builds and renovations, where wiring is often difficult.
Does a solar-powered flat roof window also work in winter?
Yes. Thanks to the panel's high yield, around 2 hours of direct sunlight per day is sufficient, even during the short winter days. It is important that the panel is not permanently in the shade. On roofs with a steep north-facing pitch, the winter sun may sometimes not reach the panel; therefore orient it as much as possible towards the south.
How long does the system keep working without sun?
A fully charged battery easily bridges a grey period: the system keeps operating for up to around 4 weeks without direct sunlight. You can monitor the battery status in the app or via the LED indicator on the underside of the screen. If ever needed, you can recharge the battery from inside via the USB-C connection.
Where is the best place to install the solar panel?
Orient the panel as much as possible towards the south to south-east and set the tilt angle to around 45° relative to horizontal. Avoid shaded areas caused by, for example, the roof window itself or nearby obstacles. The panel can be tilted from 0° to 75°, so you can adapt it to your roof pitch.
Can I install a solar screen afterwards?
Yes. The solar screen can be retrofitted into the daylight size of an existing Skylux curb or adapter frame. You install the screen from the inside with clips; the solar panel is fitted from the outside, without dismantling the flat roof window. This lets you upgrade an existing skylight or flat roof window with sunblind without demolition work.
Which flat roof windows and skylights are compatible with Solar control?
Solar control comes as standard on the openable iWindow2 and iWindow3. The separate solar screen is also compatible with fixed and openable flat roof windows, glass hybrid skylights, the Vitria and plastic skylights. Please note: the solar screen cannot be combined with roof access, SHE systems or a safety grid.
Which types of screens are available on solar power?
When purchasing, you can choose from three screen fabrics: a sunblind against heat and harsh light, a blackout blind for a dark room, or an insect screen for fresh air without unwanted guests. All three are elegantly integrated into the curb and solar-powered.
How do I operate my solar Skylux flat roof window?
With the included remote control, you can operate ventilation, the screen and LED lighting. In addition, the system is Matter-compatible via DuoControl, allowing it to integrate seamlessly into existing smart home apps such as Apple Home and Google Home. This means you can just as easily operate your flat roof window with your smartphone or tablet.
Is a solar-powered flat roof window safe in windy conditions?
Yes. When you open the window for ventilation, the sunblind or blackout blind automatically opens as a protective measure against wind load and negative pressure. In strong winds, it is best to close the ventilation completely. This keeps your daylight solution safe in all weather conditions.
What does a flat roof window or solar screen cost?
The price depends on the size, the type of glass and the screen selected. You can find all sizes and current prices directly in our webshop, ready for installation and available from stock. For tailored advice, a Skylux distributor in your area will be happy to help.
The stated values are guideline values from the Skylux technical files and may vary depending on size, orientation and surroundings. Visible water stagnation on flat glass is not covered by the warranty. Please consult the technical file for the full specifications.
