After nearly twenty years of absence, the marathon is finally returning to Kortrijk. On 26 April, Vzw De Zundagslopers, in collaboration with the City of Kortrijk, is organising the first Skylux Marathon of Kortrijk. This finally gives the Guldensporenmarathon a successor.
In 2025, five runners from Kortrijk founded the non-profit association De Zundagslopers.
Semy Tlili (who works at Skylux), Brecht Leersnijder, Michiel Van Der Bauwhede, Timon Van Hoeymissen and Tim Vandevelde are all avid runners. During their weekly Sunday run — which also gave rise to the name De Zundagslopers — the idea was born to organise a marathon in their beloved Kortrijk.
Skylux supports this event. “Passion” is one of our values, and these five people are organising this marathon out of their passion for the sport. We can only applaud that.
Skylux is therefore proud that this marathon bears our company name.
The programme includes two major challenges: the classic marathon (42.195 km), which will even include a passage through the Skylux site, and a half marathon (21 km). The event aims to bring together as many runners as possible — from experienced competitive runners to sports enthusiasts who want to challenge themselves for the first time.
The marathon will feature an atmospheric passage along the Broel Towers and the River Leie. Along the way, refreshments and medical teams will provide the necessary support. Everything is aimed at giving participants a top experience.
Registration is open from today at www.marathonkortrijk.be . Be sure to register in time, because this will be a historic day for the city, Skylux and the West Flanders running community.
