What is a skylight curb?
When we talk about flat roof windows or skylights, the curb (or upstand) plays a crucial role. But what exactly is a skylight curb?
It's easy to conclude that a curb or upstand is an essential part of your flat roof window or skylight. It not only ensures proper installation and weather protection, but also contributes to the energy efficiency and appearance of your home.

Types of PVC curbs
20/00 EP & EP-S
Super insulating PVC curbs 20/00 EP and EP-S are the perfect choice for extra insulation. Adjustable in height for various insulation thicknesses, they are UV-stabilised for long-lasting quality. The useful lining groove allows you to connect your ceiling finish seamlessly.
16/20 EP
Super insulating, innovative design and robust strength: these curbs are perfect for standard use. The useful lining groove ensures a sleek ceiling finish. In case of a daylight size of 100 x 100 cm, use a roof opening of 120 x 120 cm or 124 x 124 cm with the lining groove included.
16/00
Perfect for refurbishments, this curb is your go-to choice when replacing straight wooden or metal curbs. It's suitable for a SHE system like Skymax CE or Skylux 160° CE, with a minimum curb height of 30 cm. Perfect for a seamless upgrade of your roof.
30/20
With its 30 cm height, this curb is perfect for supporting extensive roof insulation packages. It's designed to meet the standards of 30 cm height for SHE systems without additional carpentry. Suitable for a CE-certified SHE system such as Skymax or Skylux 160° CE.
35/30
This curb is placed over an existing curb without any cutting or demolition work on the roof. The height of the vertical part at the bottom is 150 mm. Perfect for additional insulation. In the vertical zone of the 35/30 curb, a CE compliant SHE-system Skylux 160° CE can be provided.

Quick and easy to install
1. Screw the curb
Screw the curb to the roof structure with suitable screws through the indication line of the flange. Start 7.5 cm from the ends. The axial distance of the other screws may not exceed 30 cm.
2. Pull up the roof covering
Next, pull the roof covering up against the curb. Please note that the membrane and not the curb is heated during flame welding. For all types of roofing systems, we refer to the instructions of the roofing manufacturer.
Additional tip: before finishing with EPDM roofing, it is best to first apply a strip of vulcanised foil at the detail recesses.
3. Install the skylight/window
When installing your skylight or flat roof window on the curb, it's crucial to guarantee the stability and safety of the installation. Follow the installation instructions for a correct installation.
