Frequently asked questions about skylights

I have condensation issues, what could be the cause?

Condensation issues can arise for the following reasons:

  • If the product was not installed on a Skylux PVC curb, metal curb or GRP. A wooden curb, for example, can cause condensation.
  • If the installation height of 15 cm was not respected,
  • If screws other than the supplied screws were used and were not tightened firmly enough.

Condensation can also occur with a skylight with too few walls, which indicates insufficient insulation, especially in a heated room. For heated spaces, we recommend at least a 3-walled skylight.

There are also 4- and 5-walled variants that provide even better insulation. For the most durable and aesthetic solution, consider an iWindow flat roof window in HR++ or HR+++ glass.

I have water infiltration through my Skylux dome/iWindow.

We understand that water infiltration can be concerning, and we would like to share a few facts about it. In complaints about water infiltration attributed to our products, investigation shows in almost all cases that the Skylux product is not the cause. Here are some important points to keep in mind:

  1. Water marks on the inside: If there is actual water infiltration through the dome/iWindow, you should always see water marks on the inside of the curb.
  2. Sealing: Our dome/iWindow products are always sealed with a high-quality rubber. This sealing prevents water infiltration in nearly 99% of cases.

It is important that installers follow the installation instructions carefully to prevent issues such as water infiltration. If you have any doubts or concerns about your Skylux product, please feel free to contact us. We are ready to help and provide all necessary support.
