Bring in daylight - Discover the mission of our family business
"As CEO of Skylux, I am proud of our Belgian roots and our commitment to bringing natural daylight into people's lives. We strive every day to deliver high-quality products and to take care of our customers' daylight needs. We hope that you are just as enthusiastic as we are about the power of natural daylight and our range of products that bring it into your home or business."
Jean Glorieux
Origin of Skylux
The start of a family business in Kuurne
In 1954, Grandfather Albert Glorieux started a glass and mirror wholesale business in the Belgian town of Kuurne. Albert had a nose for business and saw the potential of plastics. In 1961 he produced the first corrugated sheets under the name Glovo Plastiek. Ten years later, Skylux introduced the first skylights and thus a new phase.
Expansion of our range
Skylux produces the first skylights
After the introduction of the first skylights, son Rik Glorieux takes over the business. He continues to build up the family business and expands the range with new products and innovative solutions. Skylux becomes an important player in the daylight systems market.
Third generation takes over
Jean Glorieux continues the success story
In 2014, the third generation, Jean Glorieux, takes over Skylux. The company has since grown into an international player with a strong reputation in daylight systems. With his experience and vision, Jean continues the success story of Skylux and remains committed to innovation and quality.
Digitisation and online sales
2020 marks a turning point in the way we do business
The pandemic has accelerated the digitisation and online purchasing of products. Skylux has also recognised this and has fully committed to digitisation and online sales. As a result, customers can now quickly and easily order their skylights, flat roof windows, and accessories through the online shop. The focus on digital transformation has further positioned Skylux as a market leader and is an important step in expanding their customer base.

At Skylux, we believe that we can always continue to improve in all areas. That is why we continue to strive for better solutions, services, and products for our customers. Respect, passion, and creation are values that we hold in high regard and that we convey to all our partners and employees. This creates a work environment in which everyone feels valued and inspired to give their best and continue to grow as individuals and as a team.
Inclusive entrepreneurship
We believe that everyone has the right to a sustainable job. That's why we focus on diversity and our job openings are open to everyone. We also sponsor the organisation 'Littekens', which supports young people between the ages of 17 and 25 with metaphorical scars.
Healthy, sustainable and ecological
Skylux consciously chooses a mission that takes into account the long-term health of the planet and all living beings on it. This translates into the health and safety of employees, partners, and customers, sustainable entrepreneurship, and ecological awareness. For example, we have various ongoing sustainable projects, such as the 100% switch to electric company cars and the installation of solar panels on our company buildings.
Green industrial zone
Together with Bolwerk – a free cultural zone that focuses on creation, meeting people, amazement and ecology – Skylux is working on a green industrial area. Our first step is “adopting” beehives at Bolwerk and sharing the homemade honey with our customers. The next step is creating flower meadows on our premises. Not only do the bees benefit from this, but our employees also find a place to relax and meet each other here
The benefits of daylight in your home
Creating a healthy home starts with daylight. Sunlight is an important source of vitamin D and contributes to our health. Having access to enough daylight is therefore essential to getting through the day feeling well-balanced and without fatigue. In addition to our health, daylight also benefits the environment. The more daylight you let into your home or workplace, the less artificial light you need. That’s not only kind to the environment, it reduces your electricity bill too.
